Need a patio design idea? Look no further, you've found the best!

large patio

The right patio design can greatly enhance the appeal of your backyard. Usually found at ground level, they can be made of concrete, stone, or pavers. Each of these options have many further options within them. With these materials you have options that decks can't match, and vice versa. Your design can take almost any shape, including irregular shapes and curves - it can narrow down to the width of a pathway through a garden before opening back into a large area for seating, cooking, or entertaining. Decks aren't that flexible (without great expense). In general, they are low maintenence, extremely durable and longlasting, and are more budget friendly. We will discuss which option is best for you in a seperate article.

Some backyards naturally lend themselves to ground level outdoor living. If your most used back door is near the ground, your best option may be a patio. Even if you have an elevated back door, there is no reason why you can't add a one out further in your yard. Whether you use concrete, stone, pavers, or a combination, you have many options that are not practical with a deck. Of course, there is no reason you can't have both!
